Random Pieces Quilt

I just finished this quilt using lots of various fabric scraps. I struggled with this particular design and  wished I would have used bigger sized square pieces instead of the little ones. But since I already committed to the fabric I decided to throw in a few BIG pieces to mix the design up a little bit, hoping that things would somehow work out for the best.

For the quilt's backing, I decided to use a thinner fabric instead of the usual thicker and heavier backing I normally use. This makes this quilt much lighter than most of my earlier ones and makes it a better fit for a picnic blanket or table cover even a big throw blanket in the family TV room !

Table Quilt

 I have a very nice, but pretty old table in my dining room. Okay, granted the table is not in the best of condition and it looks bare when left exposed.  So I decided to make a nice colorful cover for it, thinking a quilted table cloth may just be just what it needs to perk the look up a bit. So I pieced together a variety of colors for this new design. I started the design in the middle of the quilt with a color scheme made for four basic colors. From there I used the same basic design with contrasting colors, sewing using remaining fabric remnants into my new, colorful table quilt.

Fabric Remnants

I am really tired of looking at my old kitchen hot pads. They have taken a beating over the many years I have been preparing food in my kitchen. Each time is use them I feel that I should go buy some new ones and throw these away.
The materials are still good it is just that their appearance is really an embarrassment. They are screaming to me, "throw me away ! Please put me out of my misery ! Do anything but for crying out loud just don't leave me this way !
  So when your kitchen hot pads start making demands on the chef, it is really time to do something ! So, let's give them a make over. Time to pull out some the remnants and give these guys a new look so here you are... do you feel better now ? You definitely look better. What do you think ?

Simple Ribbon-Tie Bench Cushion

My girlfriend recently moved into her new home that has a very nice antique bench. But it needed a cushion of some type. She was looking for ideas because it is a unique size and asked if I could help her. I have not done a bench cushion before so I looked around for some type of template to use, but it didn't give me any ideas that excited her. She really just wanted something simple with a little bit of flair. So this was my idea. I think the ribbon ties hit the mark. What do you think ?

Oh, the ribbon-ties can be flipped to the back, it does not need to be in the front ;)

Baby Blue Throw Quilt

I have been experimenting with some new designs lately. Contemporary and original is what I am going for. Symmetrical is nice but I am looking for something different.
  Blue is not my first choice in color, but since I decide to make a baby boy quilt, I have kept blue as the main color. It's a small quilt measuring 30 X 30, but hey it's for a baby, right ? So it could be used as either a blanket or a wall hang quilt.

Festive Bunting Quilt

I found this Candy Bloom Quilt pattern and really like it instantly. The measurements and details are all mine, but I want to give thanks to Tilda's blog for giving me the inspiration to create this Festive Bunting throw quilt.
 My husband thought it was festive and elegant. It was fun for me to make, but it wasn't easy. Lots of details to get just right. If you know me, you know I want to get the details right as best as I can.
 I made this for my granddaughter Ella. But I haven't given it to her yet. I just want to enjoy it one more day :)

Pillow for Baby Girl

I have been working hard  the last few nights making this pillow for my step-daughters' baby shower. When you  spend  2 or 3 hours each night sewing, you have to love the craft, and I do. I had a deadline that I needed to meet because this baby shower that sort of snuck up on me, so I had to go into full Joanne mode, where I put everything else aside to finish this project.

 

The inspiration for my design was from a simple pillow that my mother used to make. I took her design as a template and turned it into my own. I often get inspiration from other work I am familiar with, but this comes from childhood memories, so it meant more to me to make this one for a child who I have yet to meet. I hope you enjoy this pillow little Aiyanna !

Little Quilt for Baby Girl

I wanted to make a simple and easy quilt for a baby girl. I looked around found this lovely quilt here with tutorial and I thought I could make this fairly fast, but I was wrong, That is not my style. I  have to admit that I am very fussy when it comes my quilts,especially with the points and the corners, They have to look good to my meticulous eye. So this quilt really kept me busy, keeping me up late into the night more than once. Here are some notes on my approach !

                 I use the technique of creating all the half square triangles

Stars surrounds Star Quilt

For the last few months, I have been busy sewing this stars filled quilt. It is coming together beautifully the way I like it. Yes, this quilt is much more intricate work than the other quilts I have sewn but the result is so fulfilling I must say and I am having so much fun working on it

…..bet that doesn’t surprise anyone who stops by my blog. This is a little pattern I stumbled upon and I have redesigned and make it my own with some little tweaks, twists and touch of me and guess what??? My husband likes it (sure he is bias)! and what say you?

At the Cross Quilt

This is a simple wall quilt I put together in a short time. I am hoping this quilt will shine and bring real Light and Vision to the beholder.

Blue Red Throw Quilt

It started with the small middle piece I started awhile ago and I decided to keep on adding pieces staying with 2 color combinations. I made up my mind to make this a little throw quilt. I play and mix with all the remant fabrics I have at hand and it seems to look for me. It is a lot of fun seeing the progression on this project and the end result is pretty pleasing.
